ドッグスリングは愛犬とのお出かけスタイルを広げてくれるアイテムです。自転車で街中へ出かけてお散歩や買い物を楽しんだり、電車に乗って普段いけないところに行ってみたり。まだまだ沢山の制限はあるものの、ペット同伴可能な商業施設が増えるなど愛犬と過ごす範囲が徐々に広がってきています。
ユーザーの負荷を軽減しながら、愛犬の居心地を追求する。それがドッグスリング役割です。 ただ犬を抱えるものではなく、ユーザーのスタイルや情緒的な側面をカバーしながら、シンプルながら様々なインサイトを叶えること。Howlyの理想とする現代に必要な機能性とプレイフルな美しさにフォーカスしたドッグスリング、そんな理想のドッグスリングを求めてHOWLY PUFF SLING BAGの開発は始まりました。
ドッグスリングとバッグの境界線
ドッグスリングは大判の形状のため良い意味でも悪い意味でも目立ってしまうことが多く、デザインも単一的なものが多いので愛犬を背負っている感がどうしても出てしまいます。スリングやバッグ内に入れていれば同伴が許可されている商業施設や電車などでも、周りの目が気になってしまうようなデザインが多いです。
Howlyの考えるドッグスリングは人視点と犬視点どちらのニーズも高次元で解決できるよう、形状や素材など様々なパターンを作り出し開発を進めていきました。愛犬の居心地の良さを追求するドッグスリングとニュートラルに我々が日常使いできるバッグ。そんな境界線を探りながら完成したのがHOWLY PUFF SLING BAGです。
PUFFのもたらすハンモック感とシームレスさ
HOWLY PUFF SLING BAGは生地には中綿が入っています。それは、愛犬を優しく包み込むための柔らかさとバッグとして使用した時のシームレスさを表現するためです。軽量で柔らかいクッションは愛犬を入れている時だけでなく、カフェなどで休憩する際にバッグを下ろして愛犬の居場所として機能することもできます。
また、パフにしたもう一つの大きな要因は、愛犬が首をバッグの淵に乗せた際、柔らかく枕のような置き場所を作るためです。通常のキャンバス地などのスリングは首に強くあたり、擦れて赤くなってしまったりしますが、そういった愛犬の首の置き場としてケアする役割もあります。
バッグの意匠としては、表地のステッチに隠れるようにポケットがあるなど機能をあまり表に見せずシームレスにシンプルなバッグとしての見た目を作り出します。 収納性や容量も非常に大きいので、愛犬が入っていなくてもご使用が可能です。 近場のカフェまではPCをバッグに入れて愛犬はお散歩、カフェに着いたらスリングとして愛犬を入れて休ませながらPC作業をするなどミニマムなライフスタイルの実現も可能です。
素材のスペック
表地はアクリルコーディングを施した撥水性に優れたナイロン生地を採用しています。お水がこぼれたり多少の汚れは拭くだけで簡単に落とすことが可能です。洗濯も可能なので汚れを気にせず使用することができます。裏生地はコットン生地を採用し愛犬の居心地を高めています。
また、愛犬の出し入れや気持ちよくくつろぐために表地や裏地、メッシュ生地など全て爪に引っかかりにくい素材にしています。愛犬も飼い主もストレスなく使用できるよう素材のスペックを最大限に活かしています。
収納と負荷軽減
HOWLY PUFF SLING BAGには2つのポケットとカラビナやフックがかけらるDカンがスマートに触れる位置についています。
表のポケットはステッチのラインに合わせて目立たないように配しています。目立たないながらも500mlのナルゲンボトルや小さなポーチが入るほど容量は大きく、取り出しやすい位置に設定をしています。
肩ベルトの収納はバッグを後ろに背負ったときに機能するようになっています。スマホに合わせてサイズを設定していますが、コードストッパーとゴムが配してある為、500mlのペットボトルも入れることが可能です。コードストッパーは極力色味が目立たないよう、生地の色に合わせて特注で作っています。ポケットの下にはDカンをつけているので、HOWLY PUFF TREATS POUCHやHOWLY DOGTAG、鍵などを取り付けることが可能です。
肩紐は長時間背負っていても疲れないように幅をできる限り広く作っています。また、身体に触れる部分にはクッション材を入れることで可能な限り負荷を下げるよう設計しています。
愛犬を隠すためのメッシュと飛び出し防止コード
スリングバッグの中にはメッシュのフードがついているため、コードを絞って収納することが可能です。メッシュ素材は通気性を高めつつ、色味も生地と揃えることで犬が入っているかわかりずらく同化させる配色にしています。冒頭でお話しした通り、公共交通機関や商業施設なども、スリングで全身を覆うことで入場する場所も増えてきているのでそういったシチュエーションや、愛犬をゆったり休ませたいときには最適なフードとなっています。
また、飛び出し防止コードもついているため、愛犬を入れる際は首輪につけることで安心して使用することが可能です。
愛犬の入れやすさ
HOWLY PUFF SLING BAGは台形の形状でそこにマチをつけた舟型をしています。開口部のサイズをできるだけ大きく取っているのと、上記でもお話しした爪が引っかからない素材を採用しているのでスマートに愛犬を入れることが可能です。
理想のトリーツポーチ
HOWLY PUFF SLING BAGに合わせて開発をしたHOWLY PUFF TREATS POUCH。HOWLY PUFF SLING BAGに合わせることはもちろんながら、HOWLY UNIVERSAL LEASHにも装着が可能で、単体としてもしっかりと機能できるトリーツポーチです。素材はスリングの撥水性のあるナイロンを採用しつつ、トリーツの取り出しやすさにフォーカスをしたポーチです。
取り出しやすさを重視し、開閉部にはマジックテープを配することで片手で且つノールックに素早くアクセスすることが可能です。また、裏生地はトリーツの取りやすさと汚れの耐性を重視したポリエステルを採用しています。
ミニマムで美しく、新しいスタイルを
バッグにもスリングにもなるHOWLY PUFF SLING BAGは愛犬とのお出かけの新しいスタイルを形成してくれるアイテムになることを祈って開発いたしまた。私たちもブランド開始前から多くの要件を整理しながら、納得いく形を追求してきました。最終段階の調整時点からの試作制作数は10回以上。ギリギリまで要件を詰め、テストを繰り返しながら細部まで追求したのがHOWLY PUFF SLING BAGです。Howlyの描くドッグライフスタイルを作り上げる上で理想のスリングバッグが完成しました。

Seeking the Ideal Dog Sling

A dog sling broadens the ways you can go out with your dog: cycling through town for a walk and shopping, taking a train to places you cannot normally reach. Although many restrictions remain, pet-friendly facilities are increasing and the range of activities you share with your dog is slowly expanding.
A sling’s role is to lighten the owner’s burden while maximizing the dog’s comfort. It must do more than simply carry the dog; it should match the user’s style and emotional needs while fulfilling a variety of insights in a simple form. With that ideal—a modern balance of required functionality and playful beauty—development of the HOWLY PUFF SLING BAG began.
The Boundary Between Dog Sling and Bag
Because slings are large, they often stand out—for better or worse—and most designs look obviously “dog-carrying.” Even in facilities or trains that allow pets if they remain inside a carrier, conspicuous designs draw unwanted attention.
To meet both human and canine needs at a high level, we explored many shapes and materials. The result is the HOWLY PUFF SLING BAG, which chases the comfort of a sling for the dog and the neutrality of an everyday bag for the owner.
Hammock-Like Feel and Seamlessness Brought by PUFF
The fabric of the HOWLY PUFF SLING BAG is padded: soft cushioning gently cradles the dog and creates a seamless bag appearance when used as a normal tote. The lightweight padding also turns the bag into a resting spot at cafés—simply set it down and it becomes the dog’s place.
Another reason for the padding is to form a soft “pillow” along the rim, so a dog can rest its chin comfortably. Canvas slings press hard against the neck and can rub the skin red, but the PUFF edge cares for that sensitive point.
Functional elements are hidden: for instance, pockets lie along the outer stitches, keeping the silhouette simple. Capacity is generous, allowing the bag to be used even when the dog is not inside. Walk to a nearby café with your laptop in the bag and your dog on foot; once there, place the dog in the sling and work—achieving a minimalist lifestyle.
Material Specifications
The outer shell is a water-repellent nylon with an acrylic coating. Spilled water or light dirt wipes off easily, and the bag is washable, so owners can use it without worry. The lining is cotton to increase comfort.
To let the dog enter and relax smoothly, every fabric—outer, lining, and mesh—has a structure that resists snagging claws, eliminating stress for both dog and owner.
Storage and Load Reduction
The HOWLY PUFF SLING BAG has two pockets plus a D-ring positioned for easy access to clip a carabiner or hook.
The outer pocket is hidden along a stitch line yet large enough for a 500 ml Nalgene bottle or a small pouch. The shoulder-strap pocket functions when the bag is worn on the back: sized for a smartphone, yet the elastic cord and stopper also hold a 500 ml PET bottle. The cord stopper is custom-dyed to match the fabric. A D-ring beneath the pocket lets you attach the HOWLY PUFF TREATS POUCH, a HOWLY DOGTAG, keys, and more.
The wide shoulder strap distributes weight, and padding on the body side reduces fatigue during long carries.
Mesh Cover and Anti-Escape Cord
Inside the sling a mesh hood can be deployed and cinched closed. The breathable mesh is dyed to match the bag so the dog blends in visually—useful for public transport or stores that require a fully covered carrier, or simply to let your dog relax quietly. An anti-escape cord clips to the collar for safe carrying.
Easy Loading
The sling’s trapezoid body with added gusset forms a boat shape. The wide opening and snag-resistant fabric let you place the dog smoothly inside.
The Ideal Treats Pouch
Developed to match the sling, the HOWLY PUFF TREATS POUCH also attaches to the HOWLY UNIVERSAL LEASH and functions perfectly on its own. Using the same water-repellent nylon, it focuses on quick access: hook-and-loop closure lets you open it one-handed without looking. The lining is polyester chosen for easy treat retrieval and stain resistance.
Minimal, Beautiful, and a New Style
The HOWLY PUFF SLING BAG, usable as both bag and sling, was created to form a new style of outings with dogs. From before launching the brand we organized countless requirements and pursued the ideal shape; more than ten prototypes were made in the final adjustment phase. By refining each detail through repeated testing, we achieved the sling that embodies Howly’s vision of dog lifestyle.
